Google Map

It is 55 minutes from the Sedona field, 40 minutes north of Santa Clarita, and 50 minutes south of Bakersfield. Once you exit I5, you are 15 minutes away.

Directions

The field entrance is 7.7 miles from Interstate 5's Frazier Park exit. Head west (go straight) through the first stop sign, the other four way stop will be at 3.7 miles. After that last stop sign, the picture below will be seen on the right 4.0 miles later.

Once at the entrance, you will see this small brown sign saying Scott Russell Road:

Watch the turn 'cause too sharp and you will be in a ditch:

This view is from up the turnoff road a bit. See the back of that Scott Russell sign in the top left corner?

After that you will be going uphill quickly.

Turn off the AC if you have cooling probs. The first 0.6 miles are the worst. That is the steepest and choppiest part.

At 1.8 miles you will come to a huge bend that turns right. From there, the road smoothes out (see below) considerably until you get to the field gate.
Image

After the bend, the entrance to the field is 0.4 miles.

When using this road, please understand that it is steep initially and needs some momentum in parts. Please allow those coming up every courtesy as they may need it. Going down the hill can be done slowly while giving those coming up to the field wide latitude.

BraveSirRobin wrote:The temperature of this field will usually be 8 degrees cooler than the 93225 zip code because it averages about 6,600 ft. That usually translates into 83 degrees when Bakersfield in the low 100s or when San Fernando Valley is in the high 90s.

About half the field has no canopy. Not a real great field for grenadiers but in some places it is really helpful to have a 203. We do vehicle ops sometimes but there is just one main road.

This stag tree is quite a landmark and is visible from much of the uncanopied field.

There is a lot of wildlife including deer, coyotes, bears, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions, condors, and ...

...big smelly beasts!

Homosexuals are welcome!

...but we have our limits.

would love to see what you have scheduled as we wanted to run ww2 games up there and didn't want to step on your game plan. Greg seemed to be into it, and this field is exceptional.

My son, Bear, will love you for that. Will it be US Marine compatible though? If I could find size 15 Roughouts he'd be set with his kit.

I PMed Beast (Bakersfield field owner) my preliminary schedule. He had nothing going that conflicted as far as I know but I want to make sure. I will PM you my preliminary schedule too if that helps. Once I get a clearance from Beast, I will post it here. I am now finding graphics. Piños Envy III will be pretty fun IMO and we will have a three game series in late summer.

PM inbound.

Is this field going to become possibly a weekend field? Or is it only for major/minor ops?

Here's "as I understand it" from the owner and our past discussions. I am not the owner...or manager...or decision maker. I am just a friend to the field and to airsoft. I offer advice to Greg on airsoft issues as he is mostly an expert on paintball. He said I get first crack at dates and in return I look after his field and try to keep him up to speed on issues unique to airsoft.

I will apprise him of Sedona's troubles and offer up an assessment of what that may mean for him near term. In my heart I believe that Sedona will return and further believe that Sedona's return is a good thing for airsoft in general and Mt. Top specifically over the long term.

Roger that. Apparently you figured out why I was asking. I think everyone is looking for a place to play. Hopefully Sedona does come back, but change of scenery is never a bad thing.

Mission Series: Khyber Pass
9/5/10-SUNDAY
Public game-Series I
$20

Mission Series: Cobra's Anger

Public game-Series II
$20

I am going to suggest to the field owner that he begins to require bio BBs after this 2010 season. I wanted to give you all a heads up on this well in advance.
My reasoning is simple: Non bios BBs in the forest is an objection we cannot overcome if pushed to do so. Bio BBs have gotten better. Where people park and load up at their cars is currently forestry land. We have a great relationship with them and it is one I do not wish to tax.

Please read up on the ops in the following pages and vote on the two you find the most appealing: VOTE
