Classice Army 1200 round box mag for M249 question.

Hello,

I have an issue with my SAW mag and the guys at the shop didn't really know what the solution is so I figured I'd ask here.

I currently have a Classic Army M249 box mag (the 1200 round kind that is encased in a woodland camo cloth). Sorry I don't know the model number but hopefully that description is enough.

Anyway, my issue is this: If I simply pour my BBs into the mag it fills up way before reaching 1200 rounds. If I stick my finger into the Mag's slot (hehe) I can touch the floor of the mag and push down on it since I can feel its on a spring mechanism. Now, if I push the floor all the way down I can pour more BBs in to the point where it feels that there are about ~1200 rounds in the mag.

So I guess I'm wondering, is this how it's supposed to work? It seems strange to me that I have to do this every time I want to fill my mag to full capacity, and this is impossible for me to do with gloves on, so if I'm empty in the middle of a game all I can do is pour some BBs in quickly but then the mag fills up to only about 400-500 BBs.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

This is very most likely due to the fact that so many BBs are being poured in so quickly that they stack inefficiently, so when you push down with your finger you're mixing it up and dislodging BBs that are not stacked optimally.

What you are experiencing is normal. I have the same SAW mag you have and use to have to deal with the same thing. That tray is spring loaded and you have to push it down to fill it to its capacity.

Instead of dealing with that and the low capacity, I decided to use the MAG brand SAW pouch.
